Dan Ruckman, Director
Dan Ruckman is currently in his 23rd year of teaching and serving his seventeenth year as the Director of Bands at Coldwater Exempted Village Schools where he directs the 5-12 concert bands, HS marching and pep band, small ensemble/music lab class and music theory.
Prior to his current position, he was the band director at Fort Recovery Local Schools and directed the bands and taught general music at North Baltimore Local Schools.
Dan received a BMEd and MMEd from Bowling Green State University while serving as the Band Methods Graduate Assistant. He is currently an OMEA adjudicator, Past-President of OMEA District 3, and has served as Secretary of the Ohio Music Education Association. Dan is a member of the National Association for Music Education, Ohio Music Education Association, American School Band Directors Association, and Phi Beta Mu.
Katie Klosterman, Assistant Director
Katie Klosterman is currently in her 4th year teaching and will start at Allen East Schools in Lima, OH this coming school year where she will be teaching 6-12 choir and music appreciation. This is her second year as assistant marching band director for the Coldwater High School Marching Band.
Prior to her current position, Katie was a K-12 general music and choral director at Fort Recovery Local Schools, the choral director at Lehman Catholic High School and K-6 general music teacher.
Katie is a graduate of Coldwater High School as well as an alumni of the band. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Vocal and General Music Education from Ball State University in 2016. Katie is a member of the National Association for Music Education and the Ohio Music Educators Association.
Jud Lehman, Assistant
Jud Lehman is currently in his 19th year of teaching at Coldwater Exempted Village Schools and serving his eleventh year as the Assistant Band Director. In addition, Jud has been the "Voice of Cavalier Football" for 16 years.
Prior to his current position, he taught Sophomore English and Journalism at Van Wert High School and 6th Grade Language Arts at Norwood Schools near Cincinnati.
Jud received his Bachelor's degree in Communication Education from Ohio University in 1993, a degree in Journalism Education from Kansas State University in 1994, and his Master's Degree in Educational Technology from Bowling Green State University in 2005.
Dane Newlove, Percussion
Dane Newlove retired following the 2012-13 school year after a thirty-year career in education, the last twenty-seven as Director of Bands and Performing Arts Department Chair for the St. Marys City Schools in West Central Ohio. Dane is currently the Director of Adjudicated Event Materials and Awards for the Ohio Music Education Association, and teaches part time as percussion specialist for the Coldwater and St. Marys City School systems in West Central Ohio.
Dane Newlove is a member of Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters Fraternity; the American School Band Directors Association, and the Percussive Arts Society. He is also an active performer as a percussionist in the Lima Symphony Orchestra, Lima Area Concert Band, Lima Marimba Ensemble, Unclouded Day Vocal Ensemble, and as principal percussionist for the Old Crown Brass Band from Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Dane is also the founder and co-director of the St. Marys Area Community Band.
